41st Students' Council
Co-Curricular Activities
The Co-Curricular Activities Committee (ECACO) strives to strengthen the sense of belonging of students towards Hwa Chong. This is done through supporting the school's Co-Curricular Activities; passing down and promoting the school's rich tradition of song, dance and cheer (SODACHE) and the provision of more opportunities for the establishment of a school identity through school-wide events. United by their passion and love for the school, the 41st ECACO wishes to extend this to the entire school population by building a school identity through SODACHE and supporting the various Co-Curricular Activities. The 41st ECACO hopes that Hwa Chong spirit will continue to burn in the hearts of the students and promise to do their very best to serve both the school and students.
Shi Ru'En [Dance i/c]
“I don’t want to be a person with full hands, resting from dreams, but a person full of dreams unable to rest his hands.” Ru’En does the things she loves with enthusiasm and passion, and loves the things she does, especially in her capacity of a Dance/IC!
Similar to Roo in Winnie the Pooh, Ru’En is always cheerful and loves to make friends! She loves to shoot and also enjoy making people laugh so do not hesitate to get a taste of her humour! ;)
Winston Tan [Song I/C]
"Chio or chio?" Winston's ego has no limits, but his heart is even bigger. Always armed with a smile and a joke, he readily extends a helping hand to one and all. He cares deeply about the people around him, and is open to new people and new experiences. "Just try!" is his underlying motto.
He is commonly found consulting both his friends and his books at his class bench. Determined to serve to the best of his abilities, he stretches himself beyond his limits to deliver his best in everything he does. As an avid current affairs reader, he hopes to one day fulfill his lifelong dream of being a grassroots leader :)
Tan Qi Ting (Song I/C]
A girl who is tripping half the time on flat ground, Angeline likes laughing at herself and at random things which isn’t really that funny after all. Although she has been told many times that she looks ‘so done with life’, she’s actually just a friendly and hyper girl who has a passion for the college songs and (although she can’t sing,) tries her best to make it less torturous for people to hear her voice twice a week. She likes to give bone-crushing hugs and squeeze the air out of everybody to show her love for others ;) Give her food to make her day :)
Claudia Choay [ecaco Sec-Treas]
Often described as the girl with the crazy and contagious laughter, Claudia strives to do her very best in anything she does. With her sunny and cheerful disposition, she always tries to keep the people around her happy and laughing. Enjoys singing, dancing, baking or reading in her free time. Although unable to play any musical instruments, she hopes to master the ukelele one day. Very much looking forward to the term ahead with ECACO! <3
Goh Hao Wei [ecaco chairperson]
Due to his agile movements, evident from his extreme quickness on and off court, and aggressive nature, he has earned himself the nickname of “Black Mamba”. However, unlike the Black Mamba, Hao Wei is nocturnal as he is only active at night. Hao Wei has a passion for singing and dancing which might explain his position as the Ecaco Chair. He also loves to play basketball and soccer so do remember to jio him if you need one more player!
Samuel Choy [Dance i/c]
One who suffers from agoraphobia, Samuel finds it extremely uncomfortable being in crowded spaces filled with people. This explains his behavioural patterns in school and why he has a particularly strong dislike for morning assemblies/lectures/mass CT sessions and anything with too many people.
Samuel finds life extremely confusing and would greatly appreciate it if you could simplify it for him. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean he would stop trying to be the sincere and cordial SC for SC.
Catch him in one of his non-agoraphobic moments and you might hear more about him! :p
Chai Yi [Cheer i/c]
More commonly known as Leticia from her campaign video, you can often spot Chai Yi in her natural habitat (the right wing & the canteen) prancing around and hugging people (she swears she’s not creepy, she just loves her friends). Although seemingly bimbo, Chai Yi is a sincere friend whom you can always count on in times of hardship. Her friends mean the world to her. That being said, she is also an individualistic person who is not afraid to be alone. She has her quiet moments where you’ll spot her stoning at random corners of the school. Chai Yi is an introspective person often reflects on herself and the meaning of life. She tries her best to have a positive outlook on life but SOMETIMES that fails and you’ll see her emo-ing on twitter, but she’ll be happy again in a few days or so. Being a hopeless romantic, Chai Yi often daydreams about her -ahem- future -ahem- She is constantly seeking to better herself by people’s feedback so as to become a better person and a better friend. Don’t be hesitant to say hi to her because she loves to make friends! :-)
You can call her Moon because she’s yellow and on her way to becoming super round /sadface/. Also, Chai Yi’s eyebags game is going strong (evident from the dark kangaroo pouches underneath her eyes which are, fortunately, covered up by her gigantic glasses.) Sigh.
Dinah Yusoff [Cheer I/C]
Ni hao peng you men!!
"Hey Hwachong! Wo shi ni de Cheer I/C!!!"
More often than not, you can either see Dinah smiling widely or just laughing to herself at very inappropriate times - even though the situation isn’t really that funny.. People may call her ditzy but she doesn’t really care!!! She really really wishes to make Hwa Chong a “smiley-er” and livelier home with her vivacious character!! :-)
Word of caution though: even though she may seem to be the extreme extrovert, those who know her personally can TOTES vouch that she’s an introvert and she is very very reflective. But!! If you happen to cross paths with her or anyone actually, don’t (really like DON’T) be afraid to say hi or smile at her - cause you may never know that it could just make her day :-)
Even though Dinah’s Chinese isn’t an A+(barely a C to be honest), she is still trying!! to learn more about Hwa Chong’s very established school culture and she hopes to spread the love for the school to everyone via SODACHE! :-) so, give her all your support yeah!!! She’s really looking forward to an awesome term as your 41st Cheer I/C!!
Nicole Lim [CCA Pro]
#behappy A person who is active and smiley in nature, Nicole strives to keep herself and those around her filled with energy, zest and happy vibes. She has always loved sports and Milo is her favourite drink. Though perhaps blur and awkward at times, when it comes to getting to know others better and making new friends, it is something she enjoys and will never hesitate to do so. So don't be afraid in approaching her! She believes in being genuine, sincere and supportive for all those around her and is grateful for the opportunity and trust placed in her. “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul”, she will strive to give her all in the upcoming term as a CCA PRO and together with the 41st Students’ Council!
Shermaine Chew [CCA PRO]
Often labelled as ‘fun-sized’ by her peers, Shermaine may be small in stature but she has a big heart! :-) Her lifelong goals are to talk less, to be a better listener and to embrace everything that she does! She enjoys talking to people and giving hugs, just ask her for one!!! She likes eating fried chicken and french fries (yes the fats). Did you know that Shermaine has wanted to be the CCA PRO ever since the start of elections? ^^ She will definitely strive to do better than her best!!
